The City of Hobart has officially backed the Make Big Polluters Pay campaign, becoming the seventh council in the country to support a Climate Compensation Fund. As we await the state government's response to the Climate Change Act review, we urge you to contact your local MPs to demand the full implementation of all seven review recommendations. We have officially launched the local 'Make Big Polluters Pay' campaign petitions for the Hobart and Launceston councils, while our members recently met with Rebecca White MP to address gas tax disparities. For our next online meeting on 29 June, Dr Sarah Russell from ReCFIT will join us to lead a discussion on the review of the Tasmanian Climate Change Act. We are also urging supporters to lodge submissions in support of the Tasmanian Aboriginal Heritage Bill before the 6 July deadline.
