Recent recommendations from the Independent Review of Tasmania’s Climate Change Act have backed our key calls for an Independent Climate Change Body and a separate adaptation process. To ensure the government implements these changes, we are asking supporters to write to their local MPs and to join our online meeting on March 30th with UTAS researcher Lennart Bach. You can also take action this month by supporting campaigns to protect the Dial Range from logging and demanding that big polluters pay for climate damage.

We have teamed up with 13 organisations to launch a joint campaign demanding Parliament strengthen Tasmania's Climate Change Act during its current legislative review. To help push for these critical reforms, we are urging supporters to sign our open letter to MPs, contact local members, and join our letter-writing workshop on 18th February. Melissa Packham from Wild Built will also join our next online general meeting on 23rd February to discuss how climate literacy serves as a critical lever for action.

Our collective was represented by Donnacha from Clarence Climate Action at the recent Climate Crisis Summit in Canberra. As we await the next steps for Tasmania's Climate Change Act, we are encouraging submissions to the federal environment law reform inquiry by 5 December. We also invite everyone to our next online meeting on Monday 24 November to hear guest speaker Anna-Zoë Herr discuss finding hope and wonder in a burning world.

We are gearing up for key upcoming events, including non-violent direct action training with the Bob Brown Foundation on 1st November and the Rising Tide climate blockade in late November. Professor David Ness from the University of South Australia will also join our next online meeting on Monday 27th October to present on adopting a sufficiency mindset. Additionally, we are highlighting a free climate course offered by the University of Tasmania alongside the wetland restoration work of sheep farmer Will Eddington.

Submissions for the Independent Review of Tasmania's Climate Change Act close on 7 September, and we have published dedicated submission, survey, and ideas wall guides to help everyone have their say. We are also preparing for our upcoming Annual General Meeting on 29 September, which will feature a guest speaker session ahead of our regular monthly meeting. Additionally, we are highlighting upcoming regional opportunities such as youth climate activism training on 6-7 September and the UTAS Commute 4 Climate challenge starting in October.
