Submission for the Climate Action Plan
Apr
2023
The Tasmanian Climate Collective’s submission argues that Tasmania’s Climate Action Plan 2023 needs significantly stronger, measurable and science-based emissions targets. It calls for accelerated electrification of transport and housing, expanded public and active transport, an end to native forest logging and new fossil fuel developments, stronger action from high-emitting businesses, and greater support for low-income households to transition to clean energy. The submission also emphasises climate adaptation and resilience, including better disaster planning, bushfire preparedness, climate-resilient planning and greater consideration of climate impacts on health. It calls for greater transparency, independent climate oversight and stronger community involvement in renewable energy and climate policy.
