The Tasmanian Climate Collective’s submission supports stronger community engagement in the development of renewable energy and electricity transmission infrastructure. It recommends a national public information campaign, greater consideration of local community values, community energy ownership, funded local engagement hubs and access to trusted information about the energy transition. The submission also calls for stronger oversight and environmental protections, meaningful involvement of First Nations communities, and federal funding for regional planning to help communities manage the cumulative impacts and opportunities of renewable energy development.
