The Tasmanian Climate Collective's submission objects to CGG Services Australia's proposed 3D marine seismic survey in Commonwealth waters of the Otway Basin. It argues the survey is incompatible with the 1.5 degree Paris target and highlights serious risks to whales, including the Endangered southern right whale, plankton and krill populations underpinning the marine food web, Short-tailed Shearwater breeding grounds, and Tasmanian and Victorian commercial and recreational fisheries. The submission criticises NOPSEMA's exclusion of fundamental opposition objections and CGG's opaque cost-benefit process for mitigation measures, and concludes that the proposal should be refused outright.
