The Tasmanian Climate Collective’s submission on the draft Aboriginal Heritage Bill 2026 calls for the legislation to be substantially strengthened and rewritten through genuine co-design with the Tasmanian Aboriginal community. It supports Aboriginal ownership and decision-making over heritage, Free, Prior and Informed Consent, stronger protection for cultural landscapes and intangible heritage, and an Aboriginal-controlled body with statutory authority.
