Submission on the Draft Government Operations Emissions Reduction and Resilience Plan
Mar
2026
The Tasmanian Climate Collective's submission on the draft Government Operations Emissions Reduction and Resilience Plan criticises the plan's non-committal language, such as consider and explore, and calls for mandatory, measurable targets instead, including phasing out ICE vehicle purchases, minimum NABERS ratings of 6.5-7 stars for new builds and retrofits, mandatory FOGO and fluorinated-gas management, and divestment from fossil fuel-linked investments. It also calls for a missing sixth priority area on adaptation, detailing risks to emergency services, health, water, transport and vulnerable communities, and recommends department-level KPIs and annual public reporting to hold government accountable for emissions reductions.
