The Tasmanian Climate Collective’s submission to the 2026–27 Safeguard Mechanism Review calls for stronger measures to deliver genuine industrial emissions reductions. It recommends tighter emissions baselines, reduced reliance on offsets, stronger carbon credit integrity, greater coverage of industrial emissions, incentives for clean technology and methane reduction, and greater transparency. The submission also highlights the need to address fossil fuel subsidies and expansion alongside reforms to the Safeguard Mechanism.
