Submission to the draft Waste Emissions Reduction and Resilience Plan
Dec
2023
The Tasmanian Climate Collective’s submission on Tasmania’s draft Waste Emissions Reduction and Resilience Plan calls for a more ambitious, measurable and properly resourced approach to reducing waste-related emissions. It advocates expanding FOGO and food recovery, tackling forestry and construction waste, reducing plastics and high-global-warming refrigerants, strengthening recycling and reuse infrastructure, and supporting initiatives such as biochar, Repair Cafes and Tip Shops. The submission also calls for stronger regulation and accountability, greater community and youth participation, and a circular economy approach that delivers environmental, social and economic benefits for Tasmanians.
